{"id":1955,"date":"2017-12-21T15:15:08","date_gmt":"2017-12-21T15:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monkey-forest.com\/?p=1955"},"modified":"2017-12-21T15:15:08","modified_gmt":"2017-12-21T15:15:08","slug":"top-5-baby-moments-of-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/monkey-forest.com\/top-5-baby-moments-of-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 5 baby moments of 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four bouncy baby Barbary macaques have been born at Trentham Monkey Forest in Staffordshire this year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The babies are often the star of the show and provide hours of entertainment for both our staff and visitors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are now closed for the year and the team have noted down their top 5 baby moments of the year:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 &#8211; First steps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2017\u2019s youngest arrival took their first steps at only 5 days old, more than 2 weeks earlier than most Barbary macaque babies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1956 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/monkey-forest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1-2-1000x667.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"206\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 &#8211; Helping out a friend<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A mum-to-be took it upon herself to give a helping hand to a new mum by helping to care for her baby. Even after she had given birth to her own baby, she continued to look after both little ones. The park guides were often asked if the baby boys were twins, however, this is not the case. The female simply did a spot of babysitting.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1957 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/monkey-forest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-1000x667.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"310\" height=\"206\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3 &#8211; Baby bonds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These two baby boys have formed a very close bond. They can be seen together playing, sleeping and often cuddling up to one of the adults.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1958 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/monkey-forest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/versionfortwitter-1000x667.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"307\" height=\"204\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>4 &#8211; Chief babysitters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year two females aged only 2 years old have taken it upon themselves to be chief babysitters. With little experience, these females tried their best to keep the babies entertained, brilliant practice for motherhood.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1959 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/monkey-forest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Barbary-macaques-1000x667.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"317\" height=\"211\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>5 &#8211; The first sighting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each year the first baby sighting is just as magical as the last. This year, whilst doing their usual morning feed two guides were lucky enough to spot 2017\u2019s first baby, a little boy born on the 27<sup>th<\/sup> May.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1960 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/monkey-forest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fortwitter-1000x667.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"319\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Trentham Monkey Forest is home to 140 free roaming Barbary macaques, an endangered species originating from Morocco and Algeria. Every new arrival is a brilliant addition to the species.<\/p>\n<p>The babies are now 5-6 months old and extremely adventurous. See their latest adventure by heading to our Facebook page.
