It\u2019s finally here \u2013 this week one of the Trentham Monkey Forest team is setting off to climb the biggest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro.<\/p>\n

A team of people from Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Shropshire will be taking part in the 6-day climb. They will walk through extreme temperatures and a variety of terrains \u2013 including an area of forest home to Colobus monkeys. These monkeys are said to \u201chang out\u201d at the Mandara Huts on the Marangu Route and that particular patch of forest is actually known by walkers as \u201cthe monkey forest\u201d \u2013 what a coincidence!<\/p>\n

The climb is in aid of 4 local charities and organisations including Cardiac Risk in the Young<\/a>, The Wingate Centre<\/a>, Mid Cheshire\u2019s Hospital Charity<\/a> and RedShift<\/a>. Earlier this year Trentham Monkey Forest held a Family FUNdraising weekend in aid of the climb and raised a brilliant amount to help towards the grand total of money raised.<\/p>\n

The walkers will be broadcasting live (from the top!) on online station RedShift Radio<\/a>. The broadcast can be heard on Thursday 28th September from 4-6pm GMT.<\/p>\n
